The FOREVER ACADEMY (here-in after affectionately called “The HUB of Knowledge”) was established in 2004 as principle provider of training for the tourism and hospitality industry in South Africa. This initiative was taken in the light of the need for specialized tertiary training that was not being met by the existing public institutions.
The FOREVER ACADEMY was officially opened in July 2005 by Dr. Rex Maughan and the MEC for Economic Development of Mpumalanga.
THE HUB’s unique system of “multiple exit” levels of learning is designed to provide the opportunity for any individual to further his/her education without the restrictions customarily imposed by traditional institutions. Should the candidate need to interrupt their study course for unforeseen reasons, financial or otherwise, credits are awarded for subjects that have been followed up and to the point of exit. Thus every course counts.
Training of adults who are already active in the workplace therefore becomes highly feasible as the study period can be adjusted to the work programme of the individual. An additional benefit of this system of education is the accumulated practical skills training that the student acquires over the period that the academic course is pursued. This system of education positions THE HUB uniquely in the post-Apartheid era as an institution of Higher Education that can meet the challenges of equipping an uneducated and unskilled workforce.
In support of the global vision set by the Forever Resorts Group to help disadvantaged communities the Academy has set its vision as follows:
To provide the opportunity for every individual to establish and develop their potential through accredited academic courses and practical skills training, so that they will, with confidence, be able to occupy a position in the workplace and contribute to the efficient development of national economy.
The FOREVER ACADEMY is committed to contribute to the economic growth and wealth creation in Africa by ensuring improved productivity, through the development of knowledgeable and skilled individuals equipped with top quality education that is both practical and applicable to the current trends in the market place.
The Academy is officially accredited, to formulate the composition of bridging courses, national certificates and other courses in such a manner that no limitation will be presented to aspiring graduates in their pursuit of education and skills training.
THE HUB offers Higher Education courses as well as essential bridging courses enabling access and application to the educationally disadvantaged.
Essential business short courses are designed to enable accumulative accreditation towards a diploma. Thus the multiple exit level system serves as a structured approach to on-going professional education. This allows the FOREVER ACADEMY to offer different levels of education that are needs based, as well as accessible to the professional market.
In accordance with the Education & Training Quality Assurance (ETQA) Regulation R1127 of the South African Qualifications Authority Act number 58 of 1995 ( SAQA Act No. 58 of 1995) Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA), has accredited the academy as the training provider.
